The value of Finnish exports fell by six per cent to roughly 4.5 billion euros in November, according to preliminary data provided by the Finnish Customs. “The drop looks very big indeed. We were anticipating a considerably smaller decline,” concedes Aki Kangasharju, a chief economist at Nordea. He reminds, however, that monthly fluctuations in export volumes can be notable.

Exports dropped in November
Kangasharju estimates that the steep decline indicates that the 11 per cent increase in exports observed in September was only an isolated blip. In October, the value of Finnish exports fell by three per cent.
