The Swedish People's Party has been in the Government for 36 consecutive years, roughly as long as its incumbent chairperson Carl Haglund has been alive. Haglund will celebrate his 36th birthday at the end of this month. Yet, he insists that joining the Government is not an objective in itself for the party.

“A credible economic programme is the most important threshold question for us. We must succeed in promoting employment and lifting Finland. However, that can't be achieved simply by slicing billions after billions,” Haglund says.
